Conference microsite for DBS

Agile conference events page for the bank to drive awareness within the organisation.

Introduction

DBS Bank, a leading financial services organization, recognised the importance of promoting agile practices within the company to drive innovation, collaboration, and efficiency. To achieve this goal, the bank decided to organise a series of Agile Conference Events aimed at fostering awareness and adoption of agile methodologies among its employees. As a UX designer, I was tasked with designing a microsite dedicated to these events to effectively communicate information, drive engagement, and encourage participation within the organization.

Objective

The primary objective was to design a user-friendly microsite that would serve as a centralized hub for all information related to the Agile Conference Events. The microsite needed to effectively communicate event details, agenda, speakers, and registration information while providing a seamless and engaging user experience. The ultimate goal was to drive awareness, generate interest, and encourage employees to participate actively in the events.

Process

Research and Discovery

To kickstart the project, I conducted thorough research to understand the target audience, their preferences, and their needs regarding agile practices and conference events. I interviewed stakeholders from various departments to gather insights into the key objectives of the events and the expectations from the microsite. Additionally, I analyzed existing communication channels and platforms used within the organization to ensure alignment with the company’s branding guidelines and digital ecosystem.

Design Process

Based on the research findings and stakeholder input, I initiated the design process by creating wireframes and prototypes for the microsite. The design focused on creating a clean, intuitive, and visually appealing interface that would resonate with the target audience. Key design considerations included:

  1. Clear Information Architecture: I structured the microsite in a logical manner, ensuring easy navigation and access to relevant content such as event schedule, speaker profiles, and registration details.

  2. Engaging Visual Design: I incorporated DBS Bank’s branding elements and visual identity to maintain consistency across the microsite. Vibrant colors, dynamic imagery, and interactive elements were used to capture users’ attention and create a memorable experience.

  3. Responsive Design: Recognising the importance of accessibility, I ensured that the microsite was responsive and optimized for viewing on various devices, including desktops, tablets, and smartphones.

  4. Interactive Features: To enhance user engagement, I integrated interactive features such as countdown timers, social media integration, and feedback forms to encourage participation and interaction among employees.

Development and Implementation

Once the design was finalised and approved by stakeholders, the microsite was developed using modern web technologies and frameworks. The development  focused on optimising performance, ensuring security, and implementing SEO best practices to maximise visibility within the organization. User testing was conducted at various stages of development to gather feedback and make necessary adjustments to improve usability and functionality.

Launch and Promotion

The microsite was launched through internal communication channels, including email newsletters, intranet portals within DBS Bank’s premises.

Outcomes

The microsite received overwhelmingly positive feedback from employees, with high levels of engagement and participation in the Agile Conference Events. Key metrics such as website traffic, registration rates, and session attendance demonstrated the success of the microsite in driving awareness and fostering a culture of agility within DBS Bank. The microsite continues to serve as a valuable resource for employees, providing access to event recordings, presentation materials, and ongoing updates on agile initiatives within the organization.

Conclusion

Designing a microsite for the Agile Conference Events at DBS Bank was a rewarding experience that highlighted the importance of user-centric design principles in driving engagement and fostering organisational change. By focusing on usability, visual appeal, and seamless integration with existing communication channels, the microsite successfully achieved its objective of driving awareness and encouraging active participation in agile practices among employees, ultimately contributing to the bank’s culture of innovation and collaboration.
