Smart home application

Smart home automation application for condominium users.

Problem and solutions

The concept of a smart living space was relatively new in Singapore. The client wanted to attract potential condo buyers by introducing an application that could control all household devices. The app needed to seamlessly integrate with smart devices and retrofit plugs where non-smart appliances would be managed and controlled.

Condo residents can enjoy the convenience of an all-in-one app for controlling appliances, grocery shopping, ride-booking, and function room reservations, streamlining their condo living experience.

Process and features

Understanding the client needs

As part of the research, we conducted surveys to gauge the basic and advanced features that smart home users wanted. Competitive analyses were done on existing applications in the market to define feature gaps.

We also conducted usability testing to gain valuable insights into the smart living app’s functionality. In the usability testing, we asked a user to perform tasks like signing up, adding a new device, adding a member, and creating a new routine. We noted their observations and feedback. The user stated that the app’s UI was easy to navigate, but minor inconveniences were encountered due to connectivity issues between the smart devices and the app. We have recorded these issues and worked on improving the overall app experience.

Feedback & Results

The client provided positive feedback for the project, resulting in increased sales of their “Smart condo units”. Furthermore, other residents could download the application to access condo services, enhancing their living experience.
